dubai and phuketThis year I planned a trip for couples that included an 8 day Dubai and Phuket Itinerary. By now you should know that I love finding creative ways to squeeze at least two countries into my vacations. After playing around with different combinations, I finally settled on Dubai and Phuket and began creating this itinerary.

To start, I used the same methods I discussed in 8 steps to booking your dream destination.  January is the month that generally has the most and the best flight deals.  True to form, United Emirates had a crazy flight sale and I was able to book a multi-city flight from Fort Lauderdale to Dubai to Phuket to Dubai to Fort Lauderdale for a total cost of $800 plus flight insurance. Total steal! I then used my Marriott membership and booked the JW Marriott Marquise Hotel in Dubai. BEAUTIFUL hotel by the way.

Here is how we broke down 8 days in Dubai and Phuket

We took an overnight flight out of FLL to Dubai. The total flight time was 14 hours and we did not arrive in Dubai until 7pm the following day. We lost a whole day traveling.

Day 1: Check into the hotel, grab a late dinner and go to bed. We really wanted to force our bodies to adjust so that we wouldn’t struggle in the morning.

Day 2: Breakfast at Six Kitchen located in JW Marriott. It is titled Six Kitchen because there are six different stations with different international food.  After breakfast we went to the Dubai Mall. The Mall is large with several attractions inside. We specifically wanted to purchase Abayas. Next we headed back to the Hotel to relax for 20 minutes before our Desert Safari. 8 hour Desert Safari tour that begins with a Falcon Show, sand bashing, sun set views, camel riding, bbq dinner, unlimited bear and wine, hookah, a belly dancing show, and henna desert

Day 3: Breakfast at Six Kitchen. Early pick-up at 8am to head to Abu Dhabi dressed in our beautiful Abayas. First stop is the Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque. Afterwards we took a tour around Abu Dhabi and made a stop at the local Mall for lunch. I enjoyed Popeyes and others had KFC. We then visited the world famous Emirates Palace. We ended the tour with the Louvre Museum. Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel to get dressed for dinner. We had dinner at the hotel, then drinks at the roof top bar!

Day 4: Fly to Phuket and check-in to Airbnb.

Day 5: Head to Wi Cafe for breakfast. After Breakfast head to tiger world and pet a real life tiger! After our tiger adventure, we went to Patong Beach and walked the Strip. Found a nice spot and ate a late lunch. We also found a vendor for James Bond Island and paid for half the online cost.

Day 6: James bond island tour. The tour is almost 12 hours, we left at 7am and returned around 6pm. After the tour, we had a private chef prepare dinner for us at our Airbnb. Spent the reminder of the night enjoying the company of good friends.james bond island

Day 7: Initially, we planed on using this day for Phi Phi island. However, James Bond island was extremely exhausting and we could not go for an entire day. We started the day with Thai Massages in our rooms. AMAZING btw. We then ate breakfast/lunch before heading out. Our first stop was to see Elephants! Next, we visited the world famous  Big Buddha.I then separated from the group and took a 2 hour long Hot Yoga class! I never felt more relaxed and challenged at the same time! I then met up with the group in Patong Beach and we grabbed dinner/drinks at Kazu.

On our last day, we flew back to Dubai for a 12 hour layover. We used this extra day to visit the world famous tallest building in he world, Burj Khalifa. AMAZING views of the city. There is a virtual reality game that has players jumping off of the building, pretty cool! Next, we went to Armani Cafe and enjoyed a cup of gold cappuccino. We enjoyed a nice dinner, did some shopping, then took a metro back to the airport to board our flight.

Dubai and Phuket was a beautiful paired combination and I definitely recommend. If you do go, consider giving yourself ample time because the flight between Dubai and Phuket is about 6 hours long and in a different time zone.

Until next time,

Esquire in Love.
